Summary: The Great Wall of China serves as a reminder to the world that there was a time when emperors ruled, and let their ambitions dominate all else. But what if the wall was more than just a political move? What if it were indeed meant to keep something horrible out? The answer might surprise you.

History: Around 1000 B.C., a meteor crashed into Gouwu Mountain. Out sprung the Tao Tei, a ravenous race of predatory creatures that numbered in the millions. All of the Tao Tei live to mutilate, eat, and then serve their kills to their queen. They were believed to be divine retribution against the then-tyrannical emperor. But in time, China formed the Nameless Order, an elite army of people more than willing to risk their lives against the endless hordes once every 60 years. The Great Wall of China is the world's only defense, but after years of fighting, two westerners could change the course of history as the Tao Tei get bolder with each passing day.

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: After the Tao Tei's weakness to magnetic rocks is exploited, the Nameless Order devises a plan even as the monsters overrun the Emperor's palace. By leading a soldier packed with explosives to the queen, they could end the war. The plan only works when the rocks are used to distract the guards, and the bomb is set off, obliterating the queen and causing the rest of the Tao Tei to drop dead.

Powers/Abilities: The Tao Tei have incredibly durable hides, especially the queen's guards, who have frills that can reflect anything to protect their ward.

Weakness: The eyes are the soldiers' main weak spot. Also, magnetic rocks disrupt the connection to the queen, and leave them docile. Heavy artillery works against even the queen. And should she die, so too will the rest.

Scariness Factor: 4-The Tao Tei might have the most formidable monster army around. There is no end to the hordes in sight, the queen that controls them is heavily guarded, and above all, even the soldiers look like eastern demons with their huge maws and relentless nature. Kill one and at least five will takes its place. Had it not been for the exploitable weaknesses, it would have been game over for the human race.

Trivia: -The Tao Tei are named after the Taotie, malevolent creatures of Chinese mythology, and one of the Four Perils, the evil counterparts to the Four Symbols (in this creature's case, its opposite is most likely the White Tiger). Taotie, or "greedy glutton", are described as demonic dogs of sorts, and they make frequent appearances on ancient Chinese cauldrons called dings

-Originally, the Tao Tei would have looked a lot more monstrous, with huge teeth jutting out and at times more simian appearances. These were toned down for a PG-13 rating.
